Platform Technician

Job Title: Platform Technician

Department: Development

Reporting to: IT & DevOps Manager

Location: Reading, Berkshire, UK

Type (Full/Part time): Permanent Full Time

Job Context: Work as part of the Platform  team to support and administer infrastructure and end users and end user connecting equipment.



  •  Administration

     – Purchasing and cost tracking and reporting on Azure cloud platform

     – Quotes, and invoice queries with suppliers

  • Platform Support

      – Investigate 1st line issues on event logs or calls

      – Monitor platform performance and alert engineers

  • Operational Support

      – Install, debug, configure on site customer equipment and software

      – Occasional end user support and customer helpdesk tasks

  • Ensure documentation is accurate and regularly updated
  • Balance your time between reactive and proactive work
  • Manage internal infrastructure (AD, Exchange, Office365)
  • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery exercises, as well as being part of the BC & DR response team

Continually identify areas for improvement in all areas of Autino’s IT infrastructure, tooling, and practices

Essential Skills:

  • Office365, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint
  • Desktop/laptop support & troubleshooting
  • Virtualisation technology
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to problem solve and think logically
  • Attention to detail, and ability to manage workload
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to self-teach new technologies and skills


Desirable Skills:

  • Azure administration (web apps, cloud services, traffic manager, DNS)
  • Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL certificates, firewalls, load balancers, routers)
  • ITIL, Scrum, Lean, Kanban, ISO27001, PCI DSS or similar
  • Knowledge of the automotive sector and garages/dealers


  • 1-2 years experience in an IT support/operations role
  • A technical apprenticeship, degree, or equivalent qualificatio
