Job Title: Team Leader / Team Manager

Job Context: Work as a software team leader on innovative web based solutions for the automotive industry. Manage and lead a high-energy team working to develop ground breaking and exciting products for the automotive sector, focused on customer service and garage management.


  • Manage a SCRUM team to deliver high quality software to plan
  • Approximately 70:30 management: hands on technical
  • Lead team activities and meetings, provide estimates, review estimates from others, represent the entire team
  • Manage tasks – review requirements, manage tickets (VSO), track and allocate tasks and burndown rate of team and individuals
  • Manage staff – including hiring, appraisal, performance review, training requirements and career plans, mentor and coach
  • Manage the AGILE Sprint (daily stand ups, planning, sprint review, retrospective) ie act as SCRUM master and address impediments
  • Ensure expectations of product owner , project manager,Head of Department are updated to reflect progress and delivery
  • Manage the delivery through the staging environment, communicate with interested parties and remove blockers by solving problems
  • Manage the quality of the software, review code, ensure appropriate tools and code coverage reached
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation throughout the software lifecycle, and review documentation from others
  • Follow the company policies and procedures, and provide guidance and advice on their development and maintenance
  • Perform any other task as required

Essential Skills:

  • Team leadership and management skills
  • Experience of Release management (controlling content of a release, tracking testing, and managing the deployment)
  • Experience of large multi module/server systems, cloud based hosting, high availability, automated scale or cloud SaaS systems with high numbers of users
  • Ability to hire staff, manage, appraise and mentor/coach them
  • Expert Software development in Microsoft C# using Visual Studio (4 years+) ASP.NET MVC5
  • Broad or detailed experience of using databases and SQL
  • Passion and interest in software related technologies
  • Knowledge of web based technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Structured application design using MVC or MVVM
  • SQL Server Database management or design
  • Experience of developing APIs (REST and SOAP)
  • nUnit and testing frameworks experience (knowledge of load andperformance requirements)
  • Knowledge of design patterns
  • Excellent problem solving (root cause identification, risk analysis)
  • Eye for detail, Ability to learn and improve
  • Good time keeping and punctuality

Desirable Skills:

  • Azure cloud (webapps, traffic manager, Azure SQL, servicebus)
  • Monitoring tools (NewRelic, Application Insights), logging
  • Expert technical knowledge in specific fields

  • Technical degree (computing, software, engineering) 2.2 or higher
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Good maths skills (O level minimum, ideal A level to good standard)
